Austin Metro Information

If it has been awhile since you have visited Austin, you may not even recognize the Downtown Area. The skyline is as impressive as always – it is just never the same for long. Besides the beauty of such historical state buildings located in this area – such as the Texas Capitol, as well as the many business buildings that see a constant stream of clients (both day and night); the construction of many Austin condominiums now makes the downtown area a beautiful place to live as well as work.

In the city’s architecture, you can see not only the unified diversity of Austin’s residents but the steadfastness of Austin’s economic growth. The architecture of the city is like a metaphor for its culture: old meets new. Victorian Austin houses, built in the late 1800s, are found all over the Austin Downtown Area. These Austin homes, the integration of the innovative and new along with the beauty and permanence of the old; are blended in such a way to display the best of both. It is a “unique” style that can be found nowhere else and what makes Austin residents proud to call Austin home.

However, when it comes to time to leave your home to enjoy the rest of what downtown Austin has to offer, rest assured that the social side of Downtown Austin is equally as impressive. The Live Music scene has not changed a bit – except to become bigger and better. Our yearly SXSW Music Festival has grown and evolved to an international event. With the opening of the Long Center on Lady Bird Lake (or Town Lake as long-time Austines call it) and the long tradition of events at the Paramount Theater, this fascinating city has endless choices for those who love all types of live entertainment. With more restaurants per capita than San Francisco, Austin has amazingly original and sumptuous Casual or Fine Dining establishments all over the metro area. In addition, you can now enjoy the many local microbrewries that have become a permanent addition to the Downtown. And, of course, you can never forget that Austin (being a very eco-friendly and eco-responsible city) remains so beautiful because nature (that was here long before we were) has been protected and preserved with the evolution and construction of the city. Because of this integration; we can enjoy traversing the Hike & Bike trails of Zilker Park that run along Lady Bird Lake, swimming in the refreshing (or downright “chilly” as some people might say) pools at Barton Springs, or “oohing and ahhing” along with everyone else that gather to watch the mass exodus of bats that call the underside of the Congress Av. Bridge home.

No matter what your pleasure, there is something for everyone in this majestic city of Austin. Welcome Home!
